President Obama has signed into law the Protecting Affordable Coverage for Employees Act (PACE) changing how some small businesses are treated under the Affordable Care Act (ACA). Under the ACA, businesses with 51-100 employees were scheduled to move into the small group health insurance market in 2016. This new legislation keeps the definition of a “small employer” as one with 50 or less employees, however, stipulates that states have the option of how to classify businesses with between 51 and 100 employees.
