NJ Goes Smoke Free

The “New Jersey Smoke-Free Air Act” (click here to link to law) goes into effect April 15th.  This law prohibits smoking in all indoor public places and in workplaces, Signs indicating that smoking is prohibited, and that violators will be subject to fines, must be displayed.

This law applies to public and privately owned workplaces regardless of the number of employees and replaces the former NJ law which required employers of 50 or more employees to establish written smoking policies and designate non-smoking areas within the workplace.

Regulations will be issued by the NJ Department of Health and Senior Services later this month.
