Mandated Benefits & Minimum Wage Set to Increase for 2021

The NJ Department of Labor and Workforce Development has published their proposed maximum benefit rates for Unemployment, Workers’ Compensation, Temporary Disability and Family Leave Insurance.  While these rates are only proposed at this time, it is expected with they will take effect in January.  Minimum wage will increase on January 1, 2021 as indicated below.

Proposed 2021 Rates

Workers’ Compensation –

Maximum Benefit Rate: $969

Unemployment –

Maximum Benefit Rate: $731
Wage Base: $36,200
Base Week: $220

Temporary Disability & Family Leave Insurance –

Maximum Benefit Rate: $903
Wage Base: $138,200
Base Week: $220

Minimum Wage -

New Jersey’s minimum wage for most workers will increase to $12.00 per hour beginning January 1, 2021.
