The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services estimates that about 610,000 New Jerseyans will be eligible for premium tax credits to purchase their healthcare, of which about 511,000 are in families with a person who is employed either full- or part- time. Subsidies will be available where an employer either does not offer health insurance or if the insurance that is offered is not affordable or fails to meet minimum standards. Open enrollment on the Federally-facilitated Healthcare Exchange is scheduled to begin in October, 2013 for plan year beginning in January 1, 2014.
