Seeking Comments on FLSA Overtime Exemption Regulations

The U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) has published a Request for Information (RIF) seeking public comment regarding the 2016 revisions to the “white collar” exemptions from overtime.  The RIF contains eleven broad questions and is a preliminary step towards issuing a notice of proposed rulemaking.  Comments are to be submitted by September 25, 2017.  EANJ members interested in weighing in on the issues can reach out to Amy Vazquez (amy@eanj.org).

OSHA Recordkeeping Update

The implementation date of OSHA’s new electronic injury and illness reporting rule has been delayed from July 2, 2017 to December 1, 2017 in order to provide the new administration time for “additional review into questions of law and policy.”  OSHA has indicated their web portal for submission of these electronic records is scheduled to go live on August 1, 2017 in order to provide employers time to familiarize themselves with the electronic reporting process.  More here.
