The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has revised recommended precautions for people who are fully vaccinated. Fully vaccinated individuals in areas of high or substantial Covid-19 transmission should resume wearing masks in "public indoor settings." Every county in New Jersey is now in the high or substantial transmission range.
The Occupational Health and Safety Administration (OSHA) continues to state that employers must protect fully vaccinated workers who are "at risk for COVID-19 exposure" and the Murphy Administration recommends that fully vaccinated people wear a mask "in crowded indoor spaces; situations involving close contact with those who may not be fully vaccinated; and situations where the vaccine status of others isn’t known."
Taken together, it is clear that employers can continue to take precautions against the transmission of COVID-19 in the workplace, including mandating the wearing of masks for all employees, regardless of vaccination status.
To make sense of all this, EANJ is hosting a one-hour exclusive members-only webinar on September 14th that will also cover whether employers should require a COVID vaccination as a condition of employment. Details and Registration here.
