Most private sector workers in New Jersey are employed by a small business and most of the workers employed by these small businesses have no employer-sponsored retirement savings.

In a tight labor market, some employers are begging to raise wages. Particularly for managers and skilled technicians at larger firms, this may be the time to ask for higher pay. It appears that their employers are willing to bargain.
