While the large employer penalty has been pushed back to 2015, open enrollment on the Health Insurance Marketplace began last year. Workers offered healthcare coverage by their employer that falls below federal standards – affordability, essential benefits, minimum value, consumer protections – also have a right to purchase insurance on the Marketplace. Employees who have been offered coverage by their employers that meet federal standards are not eligible for a subsidy but can enroll on the Marketplace and purchase a plan if they choose.
Employers, regardless of size, are required to provide detailed information to all employees and report benefits information to the IRS. New rules clarify healthcare administration for this year, 2015 and beyond.
